January's Balanced U* focus is: 'Reduce stress & feel good'. There are certain foods that contain nutrients scientifically known to help stabilize hormone levels, and maintain appropriate chemical composition in the brain. It is the chemical reactions in the brain that help manage stress and anxiety or promote feelings of well-being.
Here are some foods that will help you reduce stress and feel good!
- Grains: whole wheat pasta and bread, popcorn, brown rice and quinoa.
- Fruits: cherries, grapefruit, plums, peaches, strawberries, blueberries, apples, pears, bananas, mangoes and oranges.
- Vegetables: sweet potatoes, peas, corn, leafy greens, carrots, tomatoes and other non-starchy vegetables, spinach, green beans and broccoli.
